Cut Corners With Two-In-One Jig and Reciprocating Saw From Rockwell
Need to cut stuff up? Shorten something? Just take out some agression? Or do you need a gift for someone who is handy with a hammer and nails? We all like the idea of having a saw on hand, even though some of use can't come up with an immediate use-case for a saw. Given that, we're limited to something that takes up a small amount of space. Rockwell makes a fantastic hand-held two-in-one jig and reciprocating saw, available for $168 on Amazon.
It's a nice compliment for those who already have a dremel tool. The dremel, for those of you who, like this writer, didn't know previously, uses rotational motion, whereas a saw uses linear motion. Some of our staff are more familiar with saws (and tools in general) and tried it out. Though we're often skeptical of items that claim to have too many functions, we found it to work well, and convert easily- with the pull of a lever it adjusts between six different cutting positions.
The saw comes with 12-volt lithium batteries, so you don't need to worry about distance between your project space and an outlet. It comes with an LED light (that flashes when the battery is low) and a blower, to illuminate your cut and keep the dust out of the way.
The saw is attractive enough that I find myself itching for a use for it. I wonder if I got hold of some wood I could figure out how to saw a nativity set in time? Most likely if I start now it'll be ready by next holiday season. Maybe I'll have time for a Menorah too...
For well under $200, we think this is a great tool, either for someone who knows what they're doing or for the enthusiastic wanna-be woodworker.
